This might be a cliche..
Neither GC nor the Career meet our ultimate end goals
If you boil it all down, this craziness is driven by three things
1) Hunger for money
2) Hunger for Achievement/Recognition
3) Hunger for materialistic pleasures.
When you are 65+ years old, I bet none of us would be thinking about GC, Citizenship or for that matter how good the infrastructure in this country is. However I bet we will all be thinking about two things
1) Financial Freedom/Retirement
2) A closer and more fulfilling relationship with near & dear ones.
From what I can remember, I have always wanted to come to the US, enjoy the luxuries of life and escape India. 12 years into this country, none of that joy or excitement remains. What has taken over is planning for an early retirement and peace of mind. To put things in perspective, I am neither approaching retirement nor approaching mid life crisis (I think), I am just 35 years old.
My goal now is to make my money without sacrificing too much in life, plan out my future and make my way to the beeline. Hopefully the conversion rates wont disappoint us, and I can disappear into the Indian sunset.
Again, ramblings from a tortured soul.

I would greatly appreciate if any future outages in check collections are posted on the Homepage page at least one or two weeks in advance.
Reason - if member opted for "Bill Pay" (to make payments recurring )Bank deducts the money from the account as soon as the Paper check [from the bank] gets sent . This is done to ensure that the Bank has the cash to pay the check it mailed to payee (IV). If check never gets encashed that money is lost and wasted!
I don't know if this is feasible or not, but if IV can provide a bank Account Number and Routing, "Bill Pay" can be set such that Bank will send the amount Electonically to IV account (as E-check). E-checks get cashed in 2 days compared to Paper checks (sent by the bank) which takes 5 days [per my bank]. It's just a suggestion as I have no ideas on the issues and the logistics involved.
This is only temporary. We will accept the checks after some time and will update the page.

I used to reformat my CF card when I put it in the camera. But I started getting card read errors from Lightroom, when in fact the files were readable. This may have been strictly a Mac issue, but once I stopped reformatting the card each time the errors stopped occuring.
Just my $0.02 worth on formatting.

As long as your DOL job code is same or similar between your approved labor and new job you will be ok.

It has skills mentioned of Oracle EBS. I am working on Java/J2EE. I am looking for a new Job with Java/J2EE skills. I am worried that my new offer letter with Java skills mentioned would create a problem for me.
Please Gurus, can you advice me as to whether I can do that? Will staying on bench create a problem, as I donot get salary on bench.

After six months can i do H1 transfer with some other company...just want to be on H1 until i get GC (though it is not practical now because it takes years to get GC)...

But my employer is not ready to provide me with copy of my approved PERM labor and 140. Just like any other employer.
So I am planning to request both of this by making FOIA request to DOL and USCIS.
I have done some ground work for that. Now here are my questions.
1) If I haven�t applied for 485 yet will USCIS/DOL release this document to me?
Or are both of this employer�s petitions?

I485 will be accepted, if all other things are good.
Don't worry about EAD and AP, if it gets rejected you can always re-apply. You can apply for these any time during 485 stage. Aug 17 does not apply here. Of course you have to pay the new fees.

Thanks for the quick response gurus. Would like to know if anyone else is in the same boat. Also because of this issue, my spouse is resigning her job and going out of US for a H4 stamp. Is there any way we can avoid it as it is a oversight issue?

Why not? USCIS already approved 60K 485 applications in 2 weeks time. How come they cannot do the same with some extra money (i.e. premium processing). They can do anything if want to do.

Premium processing does not necessarily mean that it should be done in 15 days. It depends on the complexity of the application. We all know how complex 485 is because of the name check.
The premium processing can cost 1000-1500/more for 485 and should be done in 6 months. They can use the PP money to expedite their name checks. I am not sure what kind of issues USCIS will have implementing this

Unpaid vacation is acceptable. Consultants working on hourly basis do not get paid when they do not work. As long as you come on top of prevailing wage rate and the annual salary quoted on the LCA at the end of the year, it does not matter. USCIS understands that you need a vacation too and can not work like a machine throughout the year.

How are you planning to get PCC from consulate. I live in colorado and going to SFO would be very expensive as well as time consuming. Do you know how much time consulate would take through mail? I am skeptical whether they would send my passport back by Aug 15 or not as I am planing to leave on Aug 15.

I am in a situation where if i dont file I-140 by PP i will not be eligible for H1b extension. My Labor date is april 27,2007 and my 6th year H1b expiration date is Feb 2,2008..so the 365 days rule wont work. The only way i can be in this country is if my 140/485 gets accepted and i get EAD or PP for 140 gets reinstated for me to extend.
Also if PP for 140 goes away what is the typical time to process from NSC?
can anyone tell me if i am reading the laws right?? any other options?
